Stasi Spy story

Here is a new way of making a story, I must admit I copied the idea from a friend's blog, although not done as actual cutting out words which is what I have done.

This time I have kept away from my usual fabrics, etc and have just done with telling a story, but you do need to use your imagination in between the lines. Well enjoy, oh censoring in some parts towards the end.

These extracts have come from Brandenburg Novel based from World War II fiction.

Paper Dolls Play Piece

The doll can be easily removed as it slides into a piece of lime coloured mesh. The hats rest into flowers secured onto the board with brads. And the wardrobe is to the left, two special cut outs, where the clothes just slide in ... and stay. The bottom flowers secure that fairly snugly.

I've had to entertain 5 of my nieces last weekend, so I was showing them some old paper dolls I had in my secret antic (not quite, but it sounds interesting).

The paper dolls would make excellent pieces to transform into some art work; but rather than just that I wanted it to still be functional, that is, something they could still play with - yet showcase the dolls off in that particular period of time. Well see what you think and how well I've managed to encapsulate that.

I think I'll call them Art Board Wardrobes, and make them up for my others as well.
Not only did I entertain my nieces (and myself of course) but it gave me other ideas in my own designs.

1920s Fashion board

I've been using K & Co's Sera Que range of papers on this fashion board, with lady images from Graphic 45 (shopped at www.scrapbook.com). The colour combinations are oranges, purples, pinks and lemons.

Fabrics have included doiles (again), dyed embroidered pieces, fabric flowers with beads, cockerall feathers, trim, and even a tie-back for a swag (interiors).

Sera Que also had these beautiful cut out images in coloured acetate which I have sparingly included in the picture.

Bit of leg here to frustrate the blokes.

Goldfish Tales

I've been doing a bit of embroidery and made one of those doilies, but I don't use that sort of look in my room, so I decided to showcase it off in a fabric collaged piece.

I've added different feels of trim and ribbon as a diamond around the goldfish. Each goldfish has a little bow on their tails, as well as the dragon flies.

Their air bubbles I've made from buttons and flower shaped sequins.

Now I've added an extra goldfish in there:

Black Boy Poem

I haven't blogged for ages, not because I haven't wanted to, but life has been so busy what with assigments and lots of practical work to get completed for fashion shows.
I was wanting to work on this board for sometime, Paula had expanded on my fashion board idea for her poems and yes, I got to try one too. What da you think?

Birdie in the Flowers

Here I have used an acetate overlay from K and Co and put it over Prima Marketing's Whisper collection paper. I've also added my quirky bits of a young girl with angel wings, and then a birdie up at the top. You can pretend it is getting the nectar from the flowers. The flowers are by Prima. Also I've added some lemony tassles and Rebecca Sower nostalgiques remnant collection (they were on sale at Scrapbookers' Delight on the North shore). Forgot to journal it.

Just Adore

I have scrapbooked this page using Blue Awning K and Co range of products. I love the glittered chipboard. Also I'm a big fan of using gossamer, which is the lemon coloured meshy fabric behind the photo.

One thing someone commented to me was, how I don't use cardstock behind my photos. Well, I prefer not to, I've come into scrapbooking from another perspective and basically taught myself, so I didn't know about Bazill cardstock etcetera; and now I still don't think I'll be using it greatly. I know it is good to break up a pattern sheet of paper from the photo (which tends to act as a pattern too), but I break that up with ribbon and trim, as I prefer a more tactile look.

My Mum: Celebration for Mother's Day

In between studying I have finally had some time to do another art board.

I have used a little bit of Tim Holtz, Prima Marketing (black felt diecut shapes) and HOTP papers.

Ephereal Renaissance/Antoinette Mix

The thoughts flickering through my mind speak of angels, glimpses of Renaissance women, sheer silks, colours of cream, gold, muted brown, soft blues, and delicate lemon highlights.

I'm mixing Renaissance art with 17th century portrait. It could have been what Marie Antoinette had hanging on the wall of her mansion. The portrait maybe of her in the background, but if it isn't it doesn't matter as it serves the purpose of connecting a lady in the 17th century.

My angel is on the left.

I'm looking at designing a formal piece, but has that graceful elegance and free fall of silk. I'm not after a contrived look of the 17th century, but want to introduce that formality but with ephereal tones, and the rich embroideries with the Renaissance look. This board is going to serve me with that inspiration, cross-referencing with colours and styles.

Fashion Board Art

Here we go, I just can't help mixing scrapbooking with my fashion design, so here I am trying to work on a design, making some sketches for my mood board, give up and switch to scrapbooking, and then decide why not make some fashion art boards combining my love of fashion, ephemera, art and scrapbooking.

As I find the 1920s inspirational I have done one with that theme, but with a sexy look, and another one in a more playful theme.

This was a fun scrapbook page to do using K & Co's beautiful Blue Awning range.
What do you think?

French Ladies and Vintage Transport

There is a sale on at Scrapbookers' Delight so my friend went a grabbed some papers for me (well she bought them) and I oohed and aahed, so she gave me these to 'play' with. How kind of her.

This title is really quite quirky for me, French ladies and vintage transport. I also had some fun soldering the jewellery items.

Paris Reflections

I was inspired by Tristan in producing these collaged ephemera pages.

Snuggly Baby Collaged Scrapbook Pages

Well I can't get enough of this snuggly yummy baby ... don't you agree? I've had such fund scrapbooking these photos with my favourite technique of collage.

Winnie the Pooh

Here I have used Marrakesh Basic Grey range of papers and Jolee Boutique stickers. I like the little lady bugs on the flowers.

Owww Babies!

This baby is particularly scrummy and yummy, look at that chubby face. She is so cute! I've wanted it to be a real girly page, so lots of pink with the ostrich feather, the dyed chicken feathers, fabric motif, ribbon and a little pink dragonfly. These papers are again Basic Grey Porcelain. Also I've added a Crafty Secrets journal notes, another new item from Scrapbookers' Delight.

Children's Play

Here I have used the technique of shearing the edges of the paper with scissors. Also I've added toile (I like to use that now) and lots of bling which I am running out of fast.

Basic Grey Porcelain Sample

I am working on a commission basis doing scrapbook pages for a shop and this is using Basic Grey's Porcelain range.

Breakfast Time

Here I have laced up a piece of ribbon and added ephemera. This is at breakfast time. Yum yum.

Christmas Page

This page is fairly uncluttered for me, I love to use a collage look; but here I've done my best to contain myself. It is a Christmas time page, but without the atypical Christmas greens and red.

Summertime

Birdies singing in the trees

Lots of birdies in the tree singing, so I've tried to show that in this LO.

Swinging in the Trees

Here I have used an iron on fabric transfer (tree silhouette) giving it a nice velvet feel. This one is very rich in reds.

Fun on a Swing

Light blues for a breezy day.

Spotting Diaisies

Flaked

I think the title of this page says it all.
They look so sweet asleep. Wild to babysit mum.

Long Summer Days

Page here is using Prima Marketing

Page here is using Daisy Ds.

The pages speak for themselves. Ephemera is added to give a subtle quirkiness to the pages, e.g. bird's nest and eggs.

Up the Tree

I have scrapbooked two pages today. This one is my first one for a boy. Here is my little nephew among the trees.

Just using Crafty Secrets ephemera notepads on this one with Basic Grey's new line (Wisteria). It helps to know people who get samples of this new released product!

Saturday, January 31, 2009

This was the first page I ever did. It took me for ages, fluffing over trim, cropping images, and trying to piece it all together as one unit.

Ephemera use in scrapbooking

Here I have used Dove of the East's trim, Prima Marketing acetate, Crafty Secrets images from their vintage booklets, Anna Griffin embellishment (fabric). This page I did for my Auntie (I don't have kids so I scrapbook her kides), and she loves ephemera but didn't trust herself to use it in her scrapbooks, so I did it for her! ... She liked it.

Angelic Days

Oh, I know my scrapbooking is not the conventional style, I love lots of detail and unusual objects on my pages .... here an ostrich feather, rubons, silk and paper flowers, rhinestones, even stickers!

Prima Marketing

Here I have scrapbooked a friend's family trip to Whangarei in New Zealand. As a fashion designer I adore using some fabric in my scrapbook layouts. Just a glimpse of toile. I love flowers too, and 3D effects.

Prima Marketing Paintables

I have just started scrapbooking using a range of ephemera (e.g. relief die cuts, vintage pictures from Crafty Secrets, etc).

Because I am new to scrapbooking I have developed my own ideas, so hope other people like them. Let me know what you think.

Here I have used Prima Marketing's paintable sheet coloured with Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels) and also some old scraps taken from a scrapbook I found at a flea market. I removed the scraps by first soaking in cold water for about 10 minutes, then gently removing them from the paper.
